<p class="editor-paragraph" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The students had a fantastic time at Gavin Lake, learning about toads and frogs, practicing orientation skills, and trying their hand at archery. We finished the day with a long hike to a beautiful viewpoint. The students loved being outdoors, discovering the animals that live around them, and showing off their archery skills. It was truly one of the best days of the year — filled with land‑based learning and meaningful engagement from start to finish. We have been exploring literacy and math activities using nature, while also experimenting with gravity through play and discovery. <p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">On Earth Day, students showed they are good stewards of the land by working together to pick up garbage around the school grounds. They took pride in helping keep their environment clean and welcoming for everyone. Through this hands-on activity, students learned how small actions can make a big difference. <p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Students honoured Earth Day by carefully drawing something from nature that was meaningful to them, such as a tree, animal, or body of water. They took time to observe details and show appreciation for the natural world through their artwork. After drawing, students wrote thoughtful reflections about why their chosen part of nature is important. They learned about the animal and how they interact with their environment. Mary taught our students about the amazing spiders that live here in the Williams Lake area. Students learned about different types of webs, body structure and the difference between venomous and poisonous spiders. Then Students had the opportunity to be real life spider hunters outside.
