Chilcotin Road Elementary
Two of our teachers attended the BC Primary Teachers’ Conference during the October Pro-D Day. The conference provided valuable professional learning and reinforced the important role that daily read-alouds and high-quality picture books play in developing strong literacy skills. Presenters highlighted how regular exposure to rich texts helps students build vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and develop critical thinking skills. Just as importantly, they emphasized that sharing engaging stories every day fosters a genuine love of reading and helps establish positive reading habits that can last a lifetime. Our teachers returned with new ideas, resources, and strategies to support literacy learning and enhance students’ reading experiences in our classrooms.
