Cataline students took part in two separate observances in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (NTRD - Orange Shirt Day).

Primary students sat quietly and respectfully during our NTRD assembly, where they learned about the history of Orange Shirt Day, the truth about residential schools, and ways we can work toward reconciliation.

Our intermediate students travelled to T’exelcemc to listen, learn, and participate in the Orange Shirt Day ceremony. The gathering honoured First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples and provided an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing impacts of residential schools. Students listened to stories, songs, and drumming while also participating in traditional dance and cultural activities.

Throughout the day, our students demonstrated their support for truth and reconciliation and their commitment to the enduring message that “Every Child Matters.”
